Carved on Both Sides, So the Back Is Never a Blank Face
Most wooden idols are worked on the front and left rough behind, on the assumption they will stand against a wall. This one is carved front and back, which means it can be placed in the middle of a mandir shelf, on an open console, or anywhere someone walks around it.
Ganeshji is seated on a lotus, with a laddu held out as prasad and his mooshak at the base. The wood is Kadamba hardwood, fine-grained enough to hold the small detail in the laddu and the mouse without chipping.
