Krishna at the Flute, Radha Beside Him, a Peacock at His Feet
This is a scene rather than a pair of figures. Krishna sits beneath a tree playing the flute, Radha turns towards him, and a peacock has settled near his feet to listen. The tree arches over all three and ties the composition together.
The peacock is the detail worth noticing. It appears in the Vrindavan stories as one of the creatures drawn in by the sound of the flute, and including it turns a static idol into a moment caught mid-music.
The finish
Cast in metal and polished to a golden oxidised tone, where the darker shading sits deep in the folds and the raised surfaces stay bright. It holds this appearance without regular polishing.
