The Mukut Is Where the Enamel Work Goes
The crown sets this idol apart from the rest of the meenakari Ganeshas. It rises tall above the face and carries the densest enamel work on the whole piece, colour laid into every band and tier of the mukut, with the garments picked out in the same palette below.
A crowned Ganesha is the raja form, shown as a king rather than in a simple seated pose, and the upright silhouette follows from that. It reads as formal, which suits a mandir where the idol is the focus rather than part of a group.
The enamel
Colour is applied by hand onto a solid metal base and set to a glossy finish. It does not tarnish like open metal and needs nothing more than a dry cloth.
