Painting You Can Feel, Not Just See

Embossing is slower than flat painting because the raised work has to be built up in layers and left to set without slumping. What it gives you is shadow: the pattern catches light from the side and changes through the day as the light in the room moves, which flat-painted marble never does. Each vase is worked individually, so the patterns and the colour combinations differ from piece to piece.
