The leaf is the whole composition. Krishna sits along it rather than on a plinth, and the leaf itself is cast with its veins and edges worked in, so the piece reads as a single scene instead of a figure on a base.

The golden oxidised finish is deliberately aged. Darker tones settle into the recesses of the carving while the raised surfaces stay bright, which is what gives it that antique temple look rather than a new-metal shine.

A piece that lies wide

It is broader than it is tall, so it spans a console table, a shelf or a mandir ledge horizontally and holds attention the way an upright idol of the same height could not.
