Carved Hanuman Idol

Hanuman Framed by a Mesh-Work Arch, Kalash on Either Side

This is the larger of the carved Hanuman idols, and the arch behind him is the reason. It is cut in fine mesh work, open enough to see through, with a kalash placed on each side of the seated figure. The whole composition is carved as one piece from Kadamba wood.

Hanuman ji sits blessing with one hand and holding his gada in the other. The carving does not stop at the front, the back of the arch is worked with the same detail, so the piece holds up when placed away from a wall.

Where to keep it

At 26cm with the arch, it is substantial enough to be the main idol of a home mandir rather than sit alongside others. It also works on an office spiritual corner or a display shelf where the back-side carving can be seen.
