Ganpati Seated, Cut From One Piece of Wood
Ganeshji is shown seated, with the pasha and the ankusha etched into the carving. These are the symbols he is traditionally depicted holding, the noose that draws the devotee closer and the goad that removes obstacles from the path, and the artisan has worked both in by hand.
The whole idol is shaped from a single block, so it keeps the solidity of the original piece of wood. The finish is a natural polish, matte and warm, which leaves the grain running visibly through the form.
