Elephant Statue – Large Kadamba Wood Jali Carving with Baby Elephant Inside, 20cm

This elephant statue is hand-carved from thick-cut Kadamba wood using the Jali (lattice) carving technique. The body of the elephant features an open lattice design through which a smaller baby elephant is visible, carved from the same single block of wood. At 20cm length and 15cm height, this is the larger version of the Jali elephant in the collection, with more surface area for the lattice detail to be appreciated.

Large Format Jali Carving – Single Block

The larger size of this piece allows for more intricate lattice work across the body compared to the smaller Jali elephant variant. The forehead, eyes, cheeks, trunk, and hooves all carry individual carving detail, and the smooth finish on the outer surface highlights the natural grain of the Kadamba wood. The baby elephant inside is fully formed and visible through the lattice openings, making this a technically demanding piece that showcases the skill of the carver.
